The new sod has been placed on the BCS soccer field. It looks World Cup worthy to me.

Attention Seniors! We are excited to help you create memories for your senior year in this year's yearbook. To assist the Yearbook Staff in preparing the yearbook, please carefully read the Senior Portrait Requirements. Senior portraits and baby pictures are due by December 1, 2020. We understand that baby pictures may not be digital. We will accept physical copies of baby pictures.
Also, you will soon receive a Google Form in your school email for your senior page. Please complete this form as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation!

Last school year, the district requested your input to determine the availability of internet for all student homes. As the district continues to ensure that all students have reliable access to the internet, we are requesting that any student household that has limited or no internet service please complete this brief follow-up survey. If you already have internet service, you do not need to complete this survey.
While conditions remain positive in our area and school district, we want to be as prepared as possible in the event we have to shift over to a remote learning model.
Thank you for your response.

Dear Students, Parents and Staff,
After consultation with our local public health department we will be making the following modification to our masking practice when in the hallway. We had previously only been requiring a mask to be worn when all of our students/staff would be moving between class periods or if they could not maintain 6 feet of social distance in the hall when a class was in session. We are now going to require a mask be worn at all times in the hallway even if 6 feet of social distance is present. The reason for this change is because even though 6 feet of distance may be present at a given moment, there is no guarantee this will stay this way if someone were to exit a classroom unexpectedly or walk around a corner. Thank you.

Dear Students, Parents, Staff and Faculty,
I wanted to share an update on our practice of masking when in the hallway. This is a change from the practice we had been implementing the first week of school, however, it is one we are being told to make.
Anytime a student or staff member is in the hallway, regardless of the time of the day or number of people present, a mask MUST be worn at all times. Even though there are times when the hallway may be empty, there is no GUARANTEE that it will stay this way. It is this lack of guaranteed social distance that is the reason the mask MUST be worn at all times and not just when passing between class periods.
The same practice needs to be applied in office areas or other community spaces.
Please know we have gone to great lengths to create social distance in our classrooms so that masks can be removed during this period of time, however, in seeking clarification from our local Department of Health, they have advised that a hallway is not an area where a mask can be removed due to the inability to guarantee that social distance can be maintained.
Please help us clarify this point with your child or colleague.
Everyone has done a wonderful job helping to make the start of our school year a successful one. Let's all continue to do our part to ensure the safety and wellbeing of one another and to help make sure we can go through this school year without interruption.
Yours in education,
John R. Marshall
Superintendent
Bradford Central School District

Dear BCS Community,
Attached is the latest guidance from the Steuben County Public Health Department regarding COVID procedures we must follow in school. This document was just received this afternoon and will replace the note from our nurse, Mrs. Miller, that was placed on our Facebook page and website earlier today. While we understand all of the updates and changes can be confusing, we were very pleased to receive the attached chart. The biggest change to guidance we now need to follow centers around the need for a negative COVID test if a child displays one of the eleven COVID symptoms. According to this latest guidance a child will no longer have to get a test in order to return to school. If a child does present a COVID symptom they can be taken to a doctor and be cleared to return to school. As a District we will need to see this note prior to allowing the child to return. While we understand this is still an added step, it does mean in most cases a child with a symptom of COVID will not likely have to be tested. Thank you.

Attention BCS Athletes and Parents! We have been cleared by Section V, The Finger Lakes League, Steuben County League and the county health departments to start up sports with some restrictions. Our Fall season for Soccer and Cross Country will begin Monday, September 21st.
Practices will be rotated between Bradford and Dundee fields according to the practice schedule. When your practice is scheduled in Dundee, the Bradford bus will be taking athletes to Dundee promptly at 3:15 PM every weekday, and bring them back to BCS after practice is over after 5pm.
Only Boys Varsity Soccer will have the later practice from 5-6:30 pm. All other teams including Cross Country, Girls Modified Soccer, Boys Modified Soccer and Girls Varsity Soccer will take the 3:15 Bus. The Boys Varsity Soccer bus will be leaving promptly at 4:30 from Bradford and returning to Bradford at approximately 6:50 PM.
If you have not signed up to play a Fall sport and would like to, or if you have any questions, see Mr. Rutledge ASAP!

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Attached are (2) letters for your review. The first letter is from our school nurse, Mrs. Miller, and outlines procedures she will be following in our Health Office. The other letter is a "Return to School" form which we will start requesting to be filled out each time your child is absent from school. We will be mailing home copies of both letters to each family, as well as posting them on our school website under the School Reopening link. Thank you for our support and understanding. Go Braves! Attempt #2 :)

📸 SMILE! Don't forget that today is picture day at BCS!

Every September 15 is International Dot Day and today we start with a story about a little girl named Vashti, the protagonist of Peter H. Reynolds’ tale, “The Dot.”
Vashti felt like she couldn’t draw — but her art teacher wouldn’t accept that. “Just make a mark, and see where it takes you,” the teacher said to Vashti. So, she marked her parchment paper with a small dot. The next day, Vashti was surprised to find her paper with the dot on the classroom wall. Vashti was so proud of her work that she started creating drawings with different kinds of dots.
Eventually, Vashti was able to pass onto someone else the lesson about confidence that she had learned from her teacher. A dot might be small, but it’s a powerful way to show your unique individuality and creativity. And that’s the story that started International Dot Day. The end.
BCS students and staff enjoyed Dot Day today!

Picture Day is this Thursday, September 17! Order online at https://inter-state.com/order and enter code 50734JA to order your pictures today!

The Bradford Central School District would like to remember and honor the victims and hero’s of September 11, 2001. Nineteen years has passed since this tragic day but the sacrifices of so many will never be forgotten. Stay safe, strong and patriotic BCS!

Dear BCS Families,
The first day of school went remarkably well. Thank you for helping make today a reality. It was an absolute pleasure having students back in the building. All of our students should be commended for their efforts to keep social distance, wear masks when needed and adapt to new circumstances.
One quick reminder for our parents and students. Homeroom starts at 8:25 AM. If needed a student can come to the school at 8:00 AM, however it would be preferred if they arrived closer to 8:20 AM. If students can go directly to their homeroom after being dropped off this will help us keep congestion down before school begins.
Thank you to all of our students, parents and staff for making today such a success. I can't wait to do this all over again tomorrow. Go Braves!

It is official, CB with the first official lunch of the 2020-21 school year. BCS students are still going strong. I am so proud of how responsible they have been with their actions.

BCS is off to an amazing start to the 2020-21 school year. Thank you to all of our students, staff and families who helped make today possible. Go Braves!

Tomorrow’s the big day! Don’t forget to take those first day photos; at home.
Our bus drivers will be ready to greet you first thing in the morning. If you are driving a child to school we will have a drive through to drop the students off. If you need to stop (to get a child out of a car seat) please park on the left side of the circle. Elementary teachers will be outside to help students at the bus and at the front circle. Deputy VanGalder will also be in the front circle to collect the blue health check lists.
Our counselors and other teachers will greet all 7-12 students, provide them with a schedule, and direct them to home room.
Get a good nights sleep and we will see you first thing tomorrow morning!

Support the PTO this year with an online book fair!

Welcome back packets have been mailed to all families. If you have not received this packet yet please contact the school as soon as possible.
The student/parent contact and emergency form was a part of this mailing. It is extremely important to review this information and note any changes. Please have your child bring this to school on the first day.
Another important document included in the mailing was the daily health check. Students will need to present this paper each day to enter the bus or the school. Each student will receive a packet of the daily health checks during the first week of school. These daily health checks will be the “ticket in” each day.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and attention!

In less than a week we will be ready to welcome all of our students back to the halls of BCS!
As a reminder, students will be expected to wear a clean face covering daily. Students and staff will wear masks on the bus, in the hallways, in the bathroom and in any other situation where social distancing cannot occur.
Appropriate face coverings will follow the same guidelines as outlined in our code of conduct for student dress code.
All of our students will be provided with one complementary neck gaiter on the first day of school.

The first two conference days with faculty and staff have concluded and I can tell you with confidence we are excited and ready to welcome our students and your children back to school. We know with required changes to procedures there will be a period of adjustment, however, we also know that BCS will always be a place where children are placed first, provide great care, support and learning opportunities. I can assure you the most contagious thing found in our halls and classrooms will be our attitude. Go Braves!
